The Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome (MLW) Programme (http://www.mlw.mw) is an internationally recognized centre for research and research training, funded by the Wellcome Trust. In collaboration with the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), MLW would like to engage the services of a competent and dynamic individual to work in an exciting Research Programme at the MLW Research facility as it is expanding.

Clinical Research Support Unit Quality Manager – 1 post, based in Blantyre 

Job Summary

This position will be reporting to the Clinical Research Support Unit
(CRSU) Lead and expects the posts holder to look at the quality aspects of the research
activities by monitoring research studies, improving the internal working
processes, developing and providing training and playing a linkage role with
other CRSU subunits like the Clinical Unit, Pharmacy Unit and the Kachere Vaccine
unit, Governance Unit and Diagnostic Imaging steering committee.

 

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Documentation
• Prepare quarterly key performance indicator reports to CRSU lead
• Produce monthly work plans and reports
• Develop and review SOPs
• Deviation and CAPA management and reporting

2. Research project management
• Develop research implementation short training curricula and Provide training for MLW
• Link CRSU subunits (clinical unit, pharmacy unit, Kachere Vaccine Unit, Diagnostic imaging steering committee etc.)
• Chair Quality Management Committee

3. Compliance
• Monitor MLW research studies
• Oversee the implementation of the external monitoring plans and follow up
• Manage Inspections from Ethics committees and PMRA
• Audit MLW departments

General
• Representing the CRSU Lead as required.
• Communicate with and establish effective working relations both internally and with external partners and collaborators.
• Revise and improving internal working processes
• Assist the CRSU Lead for annual budgeting

HEALTH & SAFETY
To take full responsibility for ensuring a safe work environment for CRSU by following health and safety rules at all times for colleagues, study participants and oneself and maintaining awareness of Health and Safety issues, for example by attending scheduled refresher meeting.

All staff are employed under the MLW Programme and are ultimately responsible to the Programme whether directly employed under the core grant, a research fellowship or project grant. All staff are expected to be flexible and may be required to contribute to the activities of the Core Programme or another project(s).

 

 

Requirements

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Specifications

• Bachelor’s in relevant sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Public Health or Biomedical Sciences).

key skills and competences
• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subject Protection training
• Experience in quality management of research projects including significant experience in clinical trial monitoring and oversight
• Significant qualifications or experience in project management
• Experience in developing training curricula
• Experience in teaching
