Malawi Liverpool Wellcome (MLW) Programme’s Communications and Public Engagement Department is building the capacity of community health research advocates in the use of performance arts to disseminate information about health research. The advocates are members of Umoyo N’kukambirana Radio Listening Clubs (RLC) with an interest in health and development.

The two-day series of training that started on 12 December 2022 is aimed at improving how RLCs package and deliver their health messages effectively in their context with the hope that drama will attract and engage their audiences better.

President of the Dedza-based RLC Chigwenembe Francisco Manduwa says through the training, group members have understood the dynamics of drama, and this will in turn help them to move a step further in drama acting and messaging.

“The training has equipped us with crucial skills that will be instrumental in coining and sharing messages to community members on challenges pressing our community such as early pregnancies, COVID-19, and cholera,” said Manduwa.

Manduwa thanked MLW for organising the trainings that will positively impact their work across various spheres.
