Career Guidance Day is a crucial annual event organised by SCI4O for students who have completed the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams. This day aims to provide students with essential information to help them discover their strengths and understand the qualification standards for programs and careers in clinical and biomedical science. In order to engage students and enhance public understanding of science, we are committed to conducting science documentary screenings in schools. Our goal is to promote scientific literacy and inspire curiosity among students. These screening sessions feature compelling films on topics such as climate change, vaccines, viruses, and innovation, as well as documentaries highlighting the work of Malawian scientists (Figure 4). Following each screening, we actively facilitate discussions to deepen students’ understanding and ignite their interest in science-related careers, particularly in clinical and biomedical science. Additionally, we provide incentives such as notebooks, pens, and scientific calculators to motivate students to excel in STEM subjects.
