Vector Biology

The vision of the Vector Biology group is to optimise how, where and when we sample for the most important insect vectors in Malawi to inform effective control. The activities of the group span both field and lab work. While much of the focus of the group is placed on mosquito-borne diseases we also are engaged in other vectors (e.g. tsetse flies). We are particularly interested in how the landscape of Malawi affects vector ecology and optimising strategies for sampling and control. We work closely with the entomology team at the Malaria Alert Centre (part of the College of Medicine) and are dedicated to supporting the next generation of Malawian entomologists.
