Innovation Clubs

We have successfully established SCI4O innovation clubs in 20 secondary schools, and it is our unwavering vision to have innovation clubs in every secondary school in Malawi. The clubs in secondary schools are rigorously guided by a SCI4O curriculum, meticulously developed by scientists in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The curriculum undergoes periodic revisions and is promptly distributed to clubs for secondary students to ensure they stay abreast of the advancing scientific world. The comprehensive curriculum guide encompasses topics such as Climate Change and Geography, Waste management, Statistics in Health Research, HIV and AIDS, Introduction to Immunology, Cholera, Genetics, Nature Conservation, Vaccine, Biochemistry, Circulatory System, Non-Communicable Diseases, Team Building, AI & Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity. The patrons of these clubs are the science teachers, who diligently submit yearly reports on club activities to MLW and the Ministry of Education Division Office.

We conduct innovation competitions in the clubs. Our Innovation competitions offer secondary school students a platform to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. These competitions inspire students to think creatively, explore new ideas, and devise innovative solutions to real-world challenges. Participating in such competitions not only enriches students’ academic knowledge but also fosters their entrepreneurial spirit and equips them for future careers in fields that demand innovation and adaptability.

We have also established SCI4O Innovation Clubs in four public universities: the University of Malawi (UNIMA), Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES), Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), and Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS). Our university student program offers a wide range of activities to boost student engagement, professional development, and personal growth. Central to this program are networking events and innovation competitions, providing valuable opportunities for students to connect with industry professionals and showcase their science skills.
