Dr Precious Innocent Mastala is a veterinarian and One Health researcher with experience in clinical veterinary practice, infectious disease epidemiology, and operational research. He is a Pre-PhD Research Fellow with Worldwide Veterinary Service/Mission Rabies, collaborating with the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Research Programme, Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, and the University of Edinburgh.
His current research investigates the spatiotemporal drivers of rabies persistence in Southern Malawi.
His research interests include zoonoses, arboviruses, antimicrobial resistance, environmental health and strengthening disease surveillance in resource-limited settings. He has experience contributing to participatory surveillance, mixed-methods research, and epidemiological studies focused on infectious disease prevention and control.
He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on strengthening One Health rabies surveillance in low-resource settings and on antimicrobial use and resistance among poultry farmers in Malawi.
