The Global Health Bioethics Network (GHBN) aims to promote LMIC-led research in bioethics. Funded by Wellcome, the GHBN is a partnership between the Wellcome Major International Programmes (MIPs) in Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, the Universiti Malaya, and the Ethox Centre at the University of Oxford. In 2024, GHBN expanded to include collaborations with the Ethics Lab at UCT, the University of Ghana, Fiocruz in Brazil, and the Brighton and Sussex Medical School in the UK. Dr Deborah Nyirenda (Group head for Community Engagement and Bioethics) is the MLW lead for the project. Some of the projects/outputs funded by GHBN carried out at MLW include:

• Beyond tokenism: Ethical considerations on co-creating health research and interventions in Africa (Collaborative project: MLW, KEMRI and AHRI)
• Ethics of human breast milk banking in LMICs (Chifundo Kondoni-Maternal health)
• Engaging youths in climate ethics (Luke Manja-Public Engagement)
• Ethics in BCG CHIM studies led by (Charity Gunda-Marvels study)
• Ethical preparedness in implementation research during shocks (Wezi Panje-Community Engagement/Institute of Resilient Health Systems)
