Gertrude Mwase Banda

Global Health Bioethics Network fellow

Gertrude Banda is a Global Health Bioethics Network fellow, a Burdette Fellow and PhD student based at the University of Stirling and affiliated with the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Research Programme (MLW). Her PhD is looking at developing a career pathway for clinical academic roles for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health professionals.  

She is specializing in health sciences with research interest in health systems strengthening, implementation science, policy development and bioethics. Her areas of focus are health workforce and service delivery.

Gertrude has a nursing background and holds a Masters by Research from the University of Edinburgh, a Masters degree in Global Health Implementation from University of Malawi, and a Bachelors degree in nursing and Midwifery from the University of Malawi. She has authored a publication in a peer reviewed journal including Participant and researcher understandings of research responsibilities in malawi: a comparative analysis  and co-authored several others including A Multicomponent Intervention to improve Maternal Infection Outcomes.
