Dr Innocent Sulani

BREATHE Trial Coordinator

Innocent joined MLW in 2020 as a Pre-Masters fellow in immunology, during which, he led a project which established the proof of concept of immunological factors that could be protective against developing severe malaria. Currently, he leads the Malawi site of a multi-national randomised controlled trial (BREATHE trial – NCT05754034) which is investigating the implementation of protocolized oxygen therapy. The trial is testing the feasibility and effectiveness of high flow oxygen therapy in patients who are admitted with different conditions that require provision of supplemental oxygen as part of their care. Innocent is particularly interested in combining bio-medical sciences and interventional research in informing clinical practice.
