Lughano Ghambi Admitted into the American Society for Microbiology (ASM)

Lughano Ghambi-Zulu is an enthusiastic medical doctor with a strong passion for public health leadership and infectious diseases. With five years of experience in clinical research, she is currently undertaking a clinical specialisation in Microbiology. Previously, Lughano played a key role in managing a multi-country clinical trial at MLW. In 2020, she was honoured with the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene small grant award to enhance her research skills. Subsequently, she received a travel grant from the MLW Training and Development Committee to conduct a course on Childhood Tuberculosis in 2022.

 

“I firmly believe that effective leadership is essential for the functionality and success of any system, surpassing mere intellectual skills. Therefore, the Future Leaders Mentorship Fellowship by the American Society of Microbiology will equip me with the necessary leadership capabilities for my future endeavours in my chosen field,” remarked Lughano.

 

Reflecting on her receipt of the award, Lughano stated, “I firmly believe that effective leadership is crucial for the functionality and success of any system, surpassing mere intellectual skills. Therefore, the Future Leaders Mentorship Fellowship by the American Society of Microbiology will prepare me for the leadership challenges awaiting me in my field of interest.”
