Journalists and Researchers meet to Discuss Health Research Story Writing

Journalists under the Journalist in Residence Programme (JIR) have been equipped with better health research writing and interviewing skills during the programme’s First Quarterly Meeting which was held at Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust (MLW) on 14 July, 2016.

During the meeting, media consultants Frank Kapesa and Jacob Jimu presented on techniques and styles that journalists may use to make their stories appealing to readers and viewers. There were also discussions on adhering to ethics and objectivity to ensure that stories are accurate, fair and true.

“It is necessary for stories to be presented in an accurate, ethical and appealing manner because health research is a delicate subject which, if not reported properly, may lead to misconceptions and complete twists of facts.
