Wellcome Trust Masters Fellow with the Malaria group (Vector Biology) Lizzie Tchongwe- Divala has recently been awarded a PhD scholarship to study towards Integrative Infection Biology at University of Glasgow. This is a four year PhD funded by Wellcome Trust with a planned PhD plus year for further training after completing her PhD.
Tchongwe-Divala will be based in the University of Glasgow – College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences Graduate School. During the PhD, Tchongwe-Divala will be supervised by Prof Ferguson at the University of Glasgow in collaboration with Dr. Christopher Jones (MLW) and Professor Donnelly (LSTM). Her PhD project will focus on malaria and evolutionary biology.
“I am so excited and thankful to be offered this amazing and prestigious opportunity. It was such a competitive application process and I am so delighted to be one of the successful students starting on this programme. I am so grateful to the MLW Malaria team and my supervisors (Dr. Jones and Professor Donnelly) for the support during the application process.
“Through this opportunity I will be trained at one of the leading research centres globally and be able to bring expertise back home after the training through the existing collaborations between MLW and University of Glasgow. I will learn from world leading experts in malaria research through several laboratory rotations that are part of the PhD programme. I can’t wait to embark on this journey at the University of Glasgow this October,” said Tchongwe-Divala.
Congratulations, Lizzie!
