Paediatrics and Child Health

The Paediatrics and Child Health (PCH) group was formally designated in 2016 despite a long history of MLW paediatric research beginning in the 1980s. The group members are primarily clinician-researchers with the Paediatric department at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and educators with the Department of Paediatrics, College of Medicine. We are committed to supporting the development of a child-centred research agenda focused on addressing the health needs of children in Malawi and the SDG target 3.2 on reduction of neonatal and child mortality. Projects hosted in the PCH group represent the spectrum of translational research at MLW including basic science (T1), early-phase studies (T2), clinical trials (T3), and implementation science (T4). We are committed to providing a platform for multidisciplinary collaboration in paediatric research, for which the ultimate goal is policy relevance and impact, and which we believe is necessary to address the paediatric global health agenda.
