JOB TITLE: RESEARCH NURSE
Marumbo Nkhoma is a research nurse currently working in a Typhoid costing study called TYCOI under Dr Fumbani Limani. The primary objective of the study is to determine the direct and indirect healthcare and household costs associated with an episode of acute typhoid fever in hospitalized and non-hospitalized persons living in urban and peri-urban settings in Malawi. Secondary exploratory analyses will stratify illness-costs by age and healthcare setting in Blantyre.
Apart from this study, He has worked in a clinical trial (CREPTOFAZ) under Dr Pui Yang where we were trying an investigational medicinal product (clofazimine) in patients who had cryptosporidium in their GIT.
Note: Marumbo has worked in an interventional study, observational study and now costing study.
He has also worked as a district project manager with Mothers2Mothers, where he got experience in leadership and management skills. Duties including, overseeing operations in Blantyre, Overseeing the facility and community staff, monitoring technical quality, Site staff performances and beneficiary satisfaction, making budgets, reporting, presentations and documentations e.g. (Site supervision reports,
He has also worked with Medecines Sans Frontierers as a research nurse; duties including; Pre-test counselling, Post-test counselling, Phlebotomy, HIV rapid diagnostic testing, Referring, Documentation and report writing.
Marumbo has a diploma in nursing and midwifery obtained from Ekwendeni College of health sciences. He also has certificates in Clinical management of HIV in pediatrics and adults, Good Clinical practice, Human Subject Protection, consenting and research monitoring training through CRSU.
I have been enrolled at SHAREWORLD UNIVERSITY to pursue B.Sc. in public health from January 2020. My long term goal is to pursue masters in the same field (public health).
