A master’s degree holder in Public Health Management – Florence Shumba

Governance Manager in the Clinical Research Support Unit (CRSU Florence Chifundo Shumba recently completed her master’s degree in public health management at James Lind Institute. Awarded the CORE master scholarship in 2021, she has gained expertise in Ethical, Cultural, and Behaviour Aspects of Health, Anthropology, Sociology of Medical Health, Medical Device trials, Clinical Trial preparation, and Regulatory Affairs in Clinical Research.

The acquired knowledge and skills harmonise effectively with her current role in research governance.

“This educational journey enhances my ability to guide researchers, ensuring ethical and regulatory approval and facilitating smooth study implementation. I extend my gratitude to the Training Committee for their financial support, my line manager Brian Ngwira, and my family for their unwavering support throughout my studies, and the Community Engagement and Behaviour Health Research Group for nurturing me. Additionally, I appreciate the support received from the Directors of the John Hopkins Project and Blantyre Malaria Project during the implementation of my research project,” said Shumba.
